The future of Manuel Neuer remains one of the most exciting topics at FC Bayern – but now, for the first time, a clear trend is emerging. After weeks of speculation, the 40-year-old himself has indicated that staying beyond the summer is a realistic possibility
„I’m not going to announce anything just yet, but at the moment it looks good,“ said Neuer after the cup semi-final in Leverkusen. A final decision has yet to be made, but confidence is growing behind the scenes
According to Sky, several people in charge at the German record champions are currently assuming that the captain will extend his contract. This would be the ideal solution for Munich, as Neuer continues to perform at a top level and brings enormous experience to the team
His performances in recent weeks have once again underlined that he can still make the difference despite his age
Regardless of the final decision, Bayern have already drawn up a concrete plan for the goalkeeping position. Should Neuer extend his contract, he will remain the clear number one
Behind him, Jonas Urbig is envisaged as the future number two, with the 22-year-old receiving significantly more playing time and gradually being built up
In this scenario, Sven Ulreich would remain in the squad as an experienced backup and take on the role of number three. The quartet would be completed by young goalkeeper Leonard Prescott

Munich are also prepared for the eventuality of Neuer retiring, in which case the focus would be on signing an experienced goalkeeper as the new number two behind Urbig
One name that has been bandied about recently is Daniel Heuer Fernandes from Hamburger SV. However, this lead is currently not concrete, according to reports. This could only change in the event of Neuer’s departure.
