It has emerged that George Daskalakis is interested in buying a stake in Bristol City
George Daskalakis is in talks to purchase a minority stake in Bristol City amid takeover talks.
According to Sky News, the Championship side could be set for a shakeup behind the scenes as we approach the end of the summer transfer window.
The Greek businessman owns the company Kaizen Gaming, who are also in control of betting brand Betano.
Steve Lansdown could be set to sell some of his control of the club, with talks underway over a potential deal.
Lansdown has been the owner of the Bristol outfit since 1996, and is coming up on 30 years in charge of the club.
But he has made it clear for quite some time that he is open to selling off some or all of his stake in the team, which now could finally come to fruition.

It’s believed that Daskalakis will purchase a minority stake in Bristol City if these takeover talks lead to a deal.
However, it’s understood that he will still have a large number of shares in the Championship side as part of the current talks.
The gambling tycoon has joined forces with financier Sandford Loudon, whose investment firm Oakvale Capital has been involved in a number of deals in both sports and gaming in the past.
It remains to be seen how much the pair will pay, and how much of a stake they will receive as part of the negotiations with Lansdown.
But it’s been claimed that they have been targeting Bristol City for quite some time, and now look close to purchasing shares in the team.
This comes just one week after the beginning of the new campaign, with the Robins looking to get involved in the Premier League promotion battle.
Michael Skubala’s side lost 2-0 at home to Millwall in their opening fixture of the season.
Bristol City supporters are mixed on the prospect of a change in the ownership structure at Ashton Gate, with some suggesting a minority stake is the right first step.
Fans are hopeful that bringing someone in that is willing to invest will have a positive impact on the club.
However, other fans are sceptical that it will lead to any significant changes in fortune for the first team squad.
Meanwhile, there are supporters who are sceptical that a deal will even go through at all given the number of names that have been linked with investment into Bristol City in the past.
Next up for Skubala’s side is a trip to face Birmingham City on 22 August in a 12.30pm kick-off.

Bristol City have invested in the first team squad this summer, but it’s been clear for a number of years that the owners aren’t willing to compete financially with the top teams in the Championship.
The Robins have built a more sustainable approach, which has allowed them to gradually gain a stronger competitive level over time.
There are a lot of expectations for the season ahead, but fresh investment from a new minority owner will only ramp that up, with fans hoping to see the club reach the Premier League.
After nearly 30 years of Lansdown ownership, this will be a big change at Ashton Gate if this takeover deal goes through.
