Manchester United failed in their attempts to add more cover for Luke Shaw to their squad this summer. The Red Devils were keen to lay down succession plans for the English full-back, despite the fact that he started every game in the Premier League last season.

United considered several candidates for the position, including Manchester City’s Rayan Ait-Nouri. However, the Citizens refused to allow the player to make the move across the city.

Meanwhile, RB Leipzig’s David Raum was also on the Red Devils’ wish list, as were Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall and Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde. Unfortunately, United ended the summer without making any additions to the position.

With Shaw already missing three of the seven games this season, the Red Devils are likely to turn their attention to the position in 2027. However, it now appears that Juventus are already eyeing two of their summer targets.

Juventus want Ait-Nouri

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are exploring a move for Manchester City left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri. The report states: “Bianconeri directors used the international break to reopen discussions with Rayan Ait-Nouri, the 25-year-old Manchester City left-back. This follows an initial conversation at the end of August.”

The report adds that the Bianconeri are considering a loan deal in January. It continues: “A loan deal is being discussed, with the idea at Continassa being a straightforward loan (at most with an option to buy), thus deferring longer-term discussions until the summer.”

“Ait-Nouri was already open to joining Juventus at the end of August. Now, much, if not all, will depend on the playing time Maresca grants the player when the season resumes after the international break. Juventus are certainly monitoring the situation.”

The Algerian has been a peripheral figure with City so far, managing just two appearances, only one of which was a start.

Raum wanted in Turin

Meanwhile, Raum, who has started every game for RB Leipzig this season, has also earned admirers in Turin. The German full-back’s contract expires at the end of this season, making him a very lucrative option for his suitors.

The report states that Juventus are paying close attention to the 28-year-old’s situation as well, adding: “Attention is also being paid to another long-standing target for the left flank, though this move is more likely for the summer.”
