Cesar Peixoto steps in as Wolves head coach, and his journey can be traced through a handful of defining numbers.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, he began his youth career in 1991 at Vitoria Guimaraes, then left for fourth-division Cacadores Taipas in 1999 to make his senior breakthrough.
A goal against Porto led the club to sign him, and he featured intermittently for the 2004 Champions League winners.
After leaving Porto, he turned out for Braga, Benfica and Gil Vicente, earning one international cap along the way.
Wolves will be managerial role number nine for Peixoto, who began his coaching career with Varzim in Portugal’s second tier.
At Gil Vicente, he first secured top-flight survival, then, in his first full season, took them to sixth in the Portuguese top division.
His move to Wolves will be the first time he has played or managed a competitive game for a club outside Portugal.
