We asked Mark Jankowski to give us his match ratings and player comments after Newcastle 4 Bradford 1.
Ramsdale 8
Made one good save in the first half though had no chance with the goal but looked relaxed on the ball.
While he may not be Ederson with the ball at his feet, he is keen to be involved in the play, which adds a different dimension to Newcastle’s build up.
Krafth 6
Lowest rating from our starting 11 but largely because he didn’t have an awful lot to do.
Looked a little rusty but it’s clear he’s not at the same level on the ball as most of the squad.
Thiaw 8
Apart from one errant pass towards the end of the first half, Thiaw looked a cut above at centre back.
I can’t see it being too long until Thiaw is one of our first-choice centre backs.
Botman 9
Whisper it quietly but I think Sven might be back.
He’s had a tricky past two years but the big Dutchman is one of the league’s finest centre backs when fit.
It’s finally starting to look like there’s light at the end of the tunnel on that front.
Hall 8
Our new number 3 can’t be far off a return to the first choice 11.
Another assured performance form Hall. Good on the ball, strong in the challenge, he’s England’s best left back and it’s not even close.
Bruno 9 (Man of the Match)
Bruno never really had to get out of second gear all night but still managed to run the show.
He managed two assists and really should have scored.
His rest at the weekend and a comfortable performance tonight, should see him suitably sharp for the visit of Arsenal on Sunday.
Miley 7
A real mixed bag for the young lad tonight.
He showed signs of his undoubted class and ability but his decision making was lacking at times, as evidenced by his mistake for Bradford’s goal.
He is physically maturing though and put in a shift. I would look at loaning him out in January, if we can strengthen, to get him valuable minutes.
Joelinton 9
Two goals and a physically dominant performance from big Joe.
He looks to have shaken off the rust from his early season set back and I’m sure he’ll be ready to lay into Arteta’s softies on Sunday.
Elanga 7
Bradford defended him well tonight but on the occasions he did get the better of his man, his delivery was inconsistent.
He still should have come away with a goal or an assist and you can see his understanding growing.
Osula 8
A couple of goals will have done the young forward the world of good.
He’s improving gradually, maybe slower than many would like, but he’s edging towards being a player that can make an impact.
Gordon 8
Bradford couldn’t get near him all night, I can’t remember seeing one player fouled as much in a single half.
He didn’t show up on the stat line but he has to start Sunday on the left.
Subs
Trippier 7
Looked like a player who had also benefited from a bit of a rest.
Much more accurate with his passing which has been uncharacteristically sloppy of late.
Livramento 8
Whether he’s on the right or the left Tino is an absolute superstar.
He made an immediate impact off the bench and was involved in pretty much everything good once he came on.
Barnes 7
He’s very much a confidence player and he wasn’t far off bagging a goal tonight.
I think he’s a better player off the bench for the most part but I’m sure he’ll have a valuable role to play as the season progresses.
Woltemade 8
The big German wasn’t on long but was very impressive in his limited minutes.
Through a few appearances he’s demonstrated some incredible talent on the ball.
I’d argue his hold up play is already far above a certain greedy Swede.
If he can demonstrate an eye for goal over the coming weeks we’ll have a real star on our hands.
