Newcastle boost attack with Fernandez-Pardo Signing

Newcastle United have completed the signing of Belgian forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo from Lille for an initial £51.4m.

The 21-year-old has signed a long-term contract at St James’ Park and will wear the No 20 shirt, becoming the latest addition to Matthias Jaissle’s squad.

Fernandez-Pardo arrived on Tyneside on Monday night to complete his medical before putting pen to paper. He had been left out of Lille’s squad for their draw with Paris Saint-Germain after his future became the subject of intense transfer speculation.

Fernandez-Pardo enjoyed an impressive campaign in France last season, scoring eight goals in 29 Ligue 1 appearances. He has also earned five caps for Belgium and was included in their squad for the 2026 World Cup.

The deal takes Newcastle’s summer spending to around £262m, following the recent arrival of Nico Gonzalez from Manchester City.
