Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle is a huge admirer of Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba, according to the Daily Mail.

After major midfield departures on Tyneside this summer, Jaissle has made signing a new midfield leader a priority ahead of his first Premier League campaign.

Newcastle have begun exploring several options, though none may appeal to the new Magpies boss as much as Baleba.
