Bayern Munich are not currently looking to sign Norway attacker Antonio Nusa, which should come as an encouragement for Newcastle United.
Nusa is currently representing Norway at the 2026 World Cup and impressed with his goal in the 2-1 win over Ivory Coast.
The RB Leipzig winger could be in demand in the transfer market, much like his club teammate Yan Diomande, but Bayern are not at the front of the queue to sign him.
The 21-year-old scored four goals and provided three assists in the Bundesliga last season, attracting interest from several top clubs.
Bayern Munich are believed to be among the clubs interested in Nusa, alongside Juventus, Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace, after all four missed out on Victor Munoz.
Christian Falk has told CFBayern Insider that Bayern admire the player, but they are not planning a move for him at this stage.
The German champions have already signed Nathaniel Brown and Ismael Saibari, and any further additions will depend on player sales.
Falk said: “It is NOT TRUE: Bayern Munich will shortly make a move for Antonio Nusa. He’s an interesting player, and also interesting for Bayern Munich. However, Max Eberl has a big problem: he’s spent a lot of money on the two deals for Saibari and Brown (about €110m [£94.7m] – a lot of money).
“He did complete the sale of Jonah Kusi-Asare for a very small fee, but there’s still so much work to do with other players on the periphery of the squad. It’s looking difficult to sell Sacha Boey and Bryan Zaragoza. João Palhinha is still on the payroll, as is Hiroki Ito and Min-jae Kim. Much to do for Eberl!”
According to Chronicle Live, Newcastle are closely monitoring the Norway international as they search for a replacement for Anthony Gordon, who moved to Barcelona.
The Magpies are also on the verge of losing Sandro Tonali to Tottenham Hotspur, giving them additional funds to strengthen their squad this summer.
It has been reported that RB Leipzig are prepared to accept a reduced fee of around £43m for the winger, and Newcastle should be able to meet that valuation.
