Newcastle United have been hit by a major setback, with the Swedish FA confirming Anthony Elanga will miss the upcoming international break through injury.

The 24-year-old, who has started the campaign brightly, was left out of the squad after suffering an injury in the past week, ruling him out of meetings with Romania, Poland and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the UEFA Nations League.

Magpies head coach Matthias Jaissle voiced concern after the 4-1 defeat at Leeds, calling the early diagnosis worrying.
