Newcastle United have submitted a €45 million bid to Lille for versatile Belgian forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo, according to L’Equipe.
The Magpies tracked Fernandez-Pardo during his breakout 2025/26 season in France, where he registered eight goals and six assists in 41 appearances.
Comfortable on both wings and as a striker, the Belgian international is a major talent with significant potential.
Fernandez-Pardo is seeking a new challenge away from Lille this summer, despite the club qualifying for the Champions League.
His desire to leave has created a delicate situation at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, with Lille president Olivier Letang reluctant to sanction a sale before lining up a replacement.
Having recently agreed a club-record €100m deal with Manchester City for Ayyoub Bouaddi, Lille are under no financial pressure to sell but may be reluctant to keep a player who wishes to leave.
However, Les Dogues are expected to demand a premium fee of around €70m, six times the €11.5m they paid Gent in 2024.
Newcastle’s offer aims to ward off rival interest from across Europe. Atletico Madrid have already had a bid rejected, while RB Leipzig and Arsenal are monitoring Fernandez-Pardo’s situation.
The Magpies are expected to be busy in the final days of the transfer window, with reinforcements targeted in several positions to bolster Matthias Jaissle’s squad
Significant progress has been made in the pursuit of Nico Gonzalez, who is set for a key role in the Magpies’ midfield following the departures of Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali.
