Newcastle have identified Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller as the main candidate to strengthen their midfield, according to reports.
According to Bild, Stiller has a €36.5 million release clause in his deal, which runs until June 2028. However, Stuttgart can remove this clause with a €2 million payment, which would allow the Bundesliga side to sell at their own price.
It follows the departure of Sandro Tonali, who has officially joined Tottenham in a £100m deal.
Newcastle have done business with Stuttgart in the past, having signed Nick Woltemade last summer.
Elsewhere, talkSPORT report that Tottenham are interested in signing Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, but will most likely need to pay over the odds to sign the Dutchman.
With Anthony Gordon moving to Barcelona for £70 million, it is believed Liverpool will demand a similar price for the Dutchman. Gakpo has just come off an impressive World Cup with the Netherlands, scoring three times.
With Spurs’ summer spending spree continuing, exits are also set to follow with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Radu Dragusin is set to join Fiorentina on loan with an obligation to buy.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are said to be keen on Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos, according to The Guardian, but the Blues would want around £50m for the 22-year-old.
Talks are yet to take place between the two clubs but the report adds that an offer from United is expected.
And Gazzetta dello Sport report that Trevoh Chalobah would prefer a move to Serie A Champions Inter Milan this summer. The 26-year-old England international has been subject to interest from fellow Italian side Como.
