Newcastle ‘to explore’ Scalvini deal after speaking to agents | OneFootball

Newcastle have expressed interest in Atalanta and Italy defender Giorgio Scalvini and have reportedly spoken with his agents to request information. They are yet to approach the club.

Sky Sport Italia reports that the Premier League side have registered their interest this summer and made contact with the player’s representatives, but not with Atalanta.

Scalvini, 22, has two years remaining on a contract that runs until the summer of 2028. He recently switched representation to Ali Barat of Epic Sports, having previously worked with Tulio Tinti of TMP Soccer.

Atalanta are understood to value Scalvini at around €40m. Newcastle also showed interest in the Italian centre-back last summer.

He has already made 137 senior appearances in all competitions, including 113 in Serie A. Scalvini broke through at Atalanta at 17 and won his first Italy cap at 19.

His rise was checked by a cruciate ligament tear on the final day of the 2023-24 Serie A season. Subsequent fitness issues restricted him to just six Serie A outings in 2024-25 and 24 appearances in 2025-26.
