Sevilla are accelerating efforts to keep Odysseas Vlachodimos, with the Greek goalkeeper refusing alternative moves as a new loan from Newcastle is explored. His stance has opened the door to talks that could stabilise the position at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.

According to Estadio Deportivo, sporting director José Ignacio Navarro has resumed control of negotiations after the player’s latest move strengthened Sevilla’s hand. The clubs are now studying another loan, the formula that best suits the Andalusian side.

Vlachodimos has formally told Newcastle United he will not accept any destination other than an immediate return to Sevilla. That position has pushed the Premier League club to the table and prompted a softening of initial financial demands.

The goalkeeper’s impact last season was significant, with decisive saves in key moments underpinning survival. Sevilla have therefore pressed to bring him back despite the cost barriers set at St James’ Park.

Newcastle paid more than 23 million euros in 2024 for his rights and initially preferred a sale to recoup most of that outlay. The player’s wish to remain in Seville has reshaped that plan.

Sevilla prioritise experience and immediate performance in goal. Diego Conde had been a leading option, but the Villarreal keeper now appears much closer to RC Deportivo de La Coruña. With Julen Agirrezabala still on the list, a renewed loan for the Greece international has become the most feasible route, with final terms to be settled in the coming updates.
