Wolves have completed the deadline day signing of Newcastle striker Sean Neave on a season-long loan to bolster Cesar Peixoto’s attack.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 19-year-old arrived in the closing hours of the window and has made two substitute outings for the Magpies. He will provide back-up to Raul Jimenez and Adam Armstrong up front.

Executive chairman Nathan Shi said Neave is a talented player who impressed after speaking with Peixoto and Matt Jackson, and that the club believe he has significant potential. Shi added they are delighted to welcome him, and that a younger profile complements the experience of Raul and Adam for a long Championship campaign.

Technical director Jackson said it was vital to recruit a learner with hunger and personality. He described Neave as hard-working and technical, and said a joint presentation with Peixoto reflected buy-in to the recruitment plan and resonated with the player and Newcastle. Jackson said the project should stimulate Neave while meeting club needs, and that they look forward to his development.

Neave is set to be the penultimate arrival of the window at Molineux, with left-back Ghislain Konan on course to be announced later on Wednesday. The Ivory Coast international is a free agent after playing under Peixoto at Gil Vicente last season.

Goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is due to complete a loan move to Celtic.
