Newcastle only signed the 19-year-old Serbian earlier this summer, but feel that the best move for the defender now is to head to Willem II.

Pivas feels the move makes sense and will help as he looks to achieve his goal of playing in the Premier League for Newcastle.

He told Willem II’s official site: “For my development, I mainly have to train and play minutes at the highest level. Willem II is known for giving young players a chance.

“I hope that I can gain experience here and then take that with me to my higher goal, playing in the Premier League.”

Pivas is still waiting for his work permit to be issued, but will hope it can come through quickly as he eyes his Willem II debut.

Willem II are due to play host to RKC Waalwijk in the Eredivisie after the international break.
