Newcastle United have stepped up their evaluation of AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori and are preparing a formal proposal, according to Calciomercato.
Dubbed a ‘good player with a lot of experience’, Tomori has long been on manager Eddie Howe’s recruitment list.
Tomori moved from Chelsea to Lombardy in January 2021, initially joining Milan on loan before making the move permanent.
He has established himself as a key figure in Milan’s defence, helping them win a Scudetto title and gaining significant European experience.
However, following the acquisition of Mario Gila, the Rossoneri are open to reasonable offers for the Englishman, whose contract is entering its final stretch with a June 2027 expiry date.
Tomori views a return to English football as an appealing next step in his career, provided a club offers him regular starting opportunities.
Milan are reportedly holding out for a financial package closer to €20 million, while Newcastle are aiming to complete a deal for around €15m.
Negotiations between the clubs are expected to continue over the coming days.
Tomori played the first 45 minutes of Milan’s 2-2 friendly draw against Celtic on Saturday but could be left out of Wednesday’s game against Inter Milan as speculation over his future intensifies.
