Newcastle United are ‘set to make a final’ offer to Lille to convinced the French side to part ways with winger Matias Fernandez-Pardo.
Lille signed the 21-year-old forward from Belgian side Gent in the summer of 2024 and his performances for the French side have drawn attention from the Premier League.
Aston Villa watched him closely in action for Belgium at the World Cup, but the Premier League charge to sign him is being headed by Newcastle.
The Magpies submitted an offer in the region of €40m excluding bonuses for Fernandez-Pardo, who has three more years left on his contact.
Lille though do not want to sell and Newcastle’s proposal was not enough to change that view.

Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are also in talks with Lille to land the attacker with Diego Simeone seeing him as a perfect fit for his squad.
RB Leipzig also made an offer for the Belgian, but it was less than Newcastle’s bid and they are unwilling to pay over the odds.
With just a week left in the transfer window, Newcastle are looking to make a final offer to Lille to convince them to sanction a departure for Fernandez-Pardo, according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
Newcastle are planning to lodge a bid in the region of €60m to make one last try to convince Lille.

Last season Fernandez-Pardo scored eight goals while laying on five assists in 29 outings in the league for the French giants.
The Belgium international is ready to move on from Lille if a fee can be agreed, but it is far from clear whether there will be a breakthrough.
Fernandez-Pardo may have to remain at the French side until at least the winter transfer window and it remains to be seen if Newcastle would then go back for him in the new year.
Now all eyes will be on Newcastle to see whether they will be able to bring Fernandez-Pardo to St James’ Park before the window slam shut.
