According to Spanish source Fichajes, Newcastle United plan to offer €50 million to sign Atletico Madrid’s young forward Giuliano Simeone in the January transfer window. The club has been trying to strengthen its attacking options and has identified Simeone as a primary target.

The report adds that Atletico Madrid may consider selling the player if they receive a suitable offer, although it is unclear whether they are willing to accept Newcastle United’s stated amount. In this situation, the Magpies will have to work quickly and lay the groundwork for a deal by making an initial bid for the 22-year-old winger. However, other clubs can step in and disrupt the situation, just as happened with some deals last summer.

Is he a good option for Newcastle United?

The news has generated heated debate among the fan base, with many believing that the €50 million offer far exceeds the player’s current market value. According to websites like Transfermarkt, Giuliano Simeone’s estimated value is around €35 million, so Newcastle United’s offer looks a lot higher.

However, considering the club’s striker situation, the move is understandable. The potential departure of Alexander Isak and the difficulties in bringing in new forwards last season have forced the team to look for an alternative. Simeone can play in any position in the front three, and his speed, direct style, and hardworking attitude set him apart. However, the 22-year-old’s goal tally raises questions, because if Newcastle United bid so high, they will expect consistent goals from him.

We also believe that Eddie Howe’s strategy will determine the success of this deal. If the manager can bring out Simeone’s full potential, this transfer could prove fruitful.

Additionally, the club has already expressed interest in Jan Paul van Hecke, and also want to offer a new contract for Tino Livramento, which shows that Newcastle United want to keep strengthening their squad. Therefore, the Argentine’s deal could mark more than a transfer, but will also signal how the club intends to shape its attack in the coming years.
