FC Bayern is sending another young talent out on loan. He’s headed to the Third Division.

Richard Meier will be loaned to SV Meppen, a Third Division newcomer, for the upcoming season. FC Bayern announced the departure of the promising forward on its website.

This is a familiar path for the Munich club: a young offensive player doesn’t get the playing time he needs for his development with the first team and is therefore sent out on loan for a year. This is exactly the step 22-year-old Meier is now taking; he is considered a promising forward in Munich.

His new club is SV Meppen, which secured promotion to the Third Division last season. The goal of the loan is for Meier to gain playing time with a newly promoted team and take his next step at a higher level.

Meier transferred from SV Sandhausen to FC Bayern’s amateur team in the summer of 2025 and made 13 appearances and scored one goal for Munich’s second team in the first half of the 2025–26 season in the Bavarian Regional League. In the second half of the season, he made eleven appearances as a loan player for SpVgg Unterhaching, also scoring one goal.

Lots of movement at FC Bayern

FC Bayern is currently restructuring the rosters of its first and second teams. Among others, Magnus Dalpiaz has already been loaned out from the youth academy. The Innsbruck-born fullback is joining TSV Hartberg on a one-year loan. Maurice Krattenmacher has been loaned to Bundesliga newcomer SV Elversberg.

Defender Ljubo Puljic has moved to Atalanta Bergamo in Serie A. Paul Scholl has joined Karlsruher SC, as has Deniz Ofli, who, however, was only loaned to KSC.

According to consistent media reports, young midfielder Jonathan Asp Jensen is being sold to Deportivo La Coruña in Spain following his loan stint with Grasshopper Zurich.
