FC Bayern continues to march on in the Champions League. The Munich side celebrated a commanding 4:0 home win against Club Brugge on Wednesday evening.
Third CL game, third win! FC Bayern extended their winning streak and recorded a clear 4-0 home win against Belgian top club Club Brugge on matchday 3 of the CL league phase. It was the 12th win in a row for Vincent Kompany and his team.
With this success, Munich have taken another step towards direct qualification for the round of 16.
Compared to the 2:1 win against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, Kompany only made two changes to his starting XI (Guerreiro for Boey, Karl for Jackson). Tactically, however, there were also changes: Laimer once again played on the right side of defence. Kane also moved into the centre forward position. Against BVB, the Englishman still played in the ten-man position.
FC Bayern got off to a flying start and were already 2:0 ahead after 15 minutes. Youngster Lennart Karl put Munich ahead in the 5th minute with a precise long-range shot from just under 18 metres. Top scorer Harry Kane followed up in the 14th minute. After a precise pass from Konrad Laimer, the Englishman only had to push the ball over the goal line from close range.
Even after the lightning start, Munich did not let up and pressed for the next goal: Diaz failed to beat Brugge keeper Jackers in the 20th minute. Karl narrowly missed out on a brace in the 31st minute when his shot flew just wide of the right-hand post.

But in the 34th minute, the time had come: After a beautiful combination between Laimer and Diaz, the Colombian didn’t hesitate for long and fired the ball under the crossbar with a powerful shot to make it 3-0.
Bayern had another double chance shortly before the break: Firstly, Diaz failed to beat Jackers from close range. Kane hit the rebound against the post from an acute angle. The score remained 3-0 in favour of Munich at half-time.

Munich remained the dominant team after the break. Kompany’s team pressed for the fourth goal. Kane failed to beat Jackers in a one-on-one duel in the 58th minute. In the 64th minute, Spileers blocked a shot from Kane to prevent the 4-0 scoreline.
In the 69th, Kompany brought on three new players in Leon Goretzka, Tom Bischof and Nicolas Jackson (for Karl, Guerreiro and Kane).
Even after the changes, Munich maintained their flow. FCB had a triple chance in the 76th minute: Firstly, Olise failed to beat Jackers with a long-range shot from just under 20 metres. The rebound landed with Jackson, but the Senegalese was also beaten by the Bruges keeper. The second rebound ended up with Diaz, whose shot was cleared off the line by Spileers.
Bayern did not give up, however. In the 79th, they were rewarded for their high level of commitment: Laimer popped up in front of the Brugge goal. However, Spileers was able to stop the shot at the last second. However, the ball ended up with Jackson, who scored from close range to make it 4:0.
The Bundesliga continues in three days‘ time. On Saturday (25 October, from 15:30), Harry Kane and Co. will be guests at Borussia Mönchengladbach. The next game in the Champions League is not until 4 November, when the German record champions visit reigning CL winners Paris Saint-Germain.
