Neymar completed his first on-pitch work on Friday since suffering a right calf injury on 17 May, joining Brazil’s session at Granja Comary as they prepare for the World Cup.

According to Diario Do Peixe, the forward started the day in the gym, continuing his rehabilitation and physiotherapy programme, including strengthening for his right leg.

On the pitch, the number 10 undertook a light transition session alongside the physio team. Wearing trainers, he skipped the more intense drills with Carlo Ancelotti’s group, doing laps before sitting on the bench next to the Italian.

It was his first time on grass since 16 May, the day before the Coritiba match in which he was injured. From 18 May he had worked only indoors at the CT Rei Pelé gym and at home.

He reported to the national team on 27 May, when tests showed a grade 2 injury to his right calf. The estimated recovery timeframe is two to three weeks.

Neymar will miss the warm-up friendlies against Panama and Egypt and remains a doubt for Brazil’s World Cup opener against Morocco on 13 June. The plan is to keep him in treatment and monitor his progress, with hope of recovery during the group stage. There is currently no plan to cut him from the squad.
