Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar said Neymar, the Santos forward, has a grade two calf injury and is expected to miss two to three weeks of training in the build-up to the World Cup.

The forward has only just returned to the Brazil squad after almost three years away.

After reporting on Wednesday at Granja Comary, he underwent medical checks, including an MRI, which confirmed a calf injury rather than simple oedema.

Earlier guidance to the CBF and media described only a two millimetre oedema at the site.

He felt the problem during the Brasileirão match against Coritiba at Neo Química Arena. At present, the CBF is not discussing omitting the player from the World Cup squad.
