Neymar marks Coutinho’s Santos agreement with Vasco-linked track and wizard emoji | OneFootball

According to Diario Do Peixe, Santos have reached an agreement with Philippe Coutinho, and Neymar marked the news with an Instagram Story set to music linked to Vasco. The forward posted a dancing video.

The post did not name Coutinho, but the song choice pointed to him. Neymar used the original track by DJ Zigão rather than “A Barreira Vai Virar Baile”, a parody created by Vasco fans for the midfielder.

He also added a wizard emoji, a nod used by supporters of his former clubs to the “Pequeno Mágico” nickname.

The agreement was brokered by NR Sports, the company that manages Neymar’s career. The initial approach came from Neymar and NR Sports, who worked to persuade Coutinho to return to the pitch for the club.

Coutinho has not played since February. His last appearance was on 14 February for Vasco against Volta Redonda in the Campeonato Carioca, then a week later he terminated his contract to focus on mental health.

Because of his lay-off, Santos requested medical tests before concluding the deal. Coutinho has maintained fitness with individual work and ball sessions.

As a free agent, he will cost no transfer fee and can be registered even after the window closes on Friday 11, provided the regulatory deadline of 7 October is met.

Neymar and Coutinho were Brazil team-mates during the build-up to the 2018 World Cup under Tite. They will now reunite at club level, with Coutinho set for a preparation period before being available to Cuca.
