Neymar will miss Santos’ match against São Paulo on Friday as he completes the final stage of his physical transition. The expectation is he could be available for Flamengo.
He remains in recovery before resuming ball work, and the international window has allowed him to intensify treatment. He could get a few minutes at Vila Belmiro. GE reports that Philippe Coutinho has been named in the São Paulo squad to face Santos.
The São Paulo v Santos fixture kicks off at 20:00 Brasília time on Friday at Morumbis.
Flamengo have been dealt a blow during the international window, with Arrascaeta sustaining a fracture to his left wrist, ruling him out of the meeting with Santos. He is expected to return only in November.
Samuel Lino and Pedro are with Brazil for Saturday’s match against India, which should allow the pair to arrive in time to face Santos. Varela and Valencia, with Uruguay and Ecuador respectively, remain doubts.
There had been talk of moving Flamengo v Santos to Morumbis, but logistical issues mean it will be played at Vila Belmiro. Kick-off is 19:30 Brasília time on Thursday eight October. Premiere will broadcast the match on pay-per-view.
