Neymar raged at the state of Santos’s pitch after their Copa do Brasil quarter-final exit to Palmeiras.

Santos went out with results of 0-3 and 0-0. The 34-year-old was forced off at half-time with a thigh problem. The player said in an Instagram story that the surface contributed to his side’s physical issues.

In his post he sarcastically congratulated the groundsman and called it the worst pitch the club had known, full of holes.

He added that Santos had to play the pitch as well as the opponent, and claimed three players were injured before the break.

He directed his criticism at the turf at the Urbano Caldeira Stadium, commonly known as Vila Belmiro.
