Neymar has begun his recovery at Santos for Wednesday’s Copa do Brasil quarter-final against Palmeiras at Vila Belmiro, kicking off at 21:30, Brasília time. He undertook physiotherapy and followed a tailored programme on the squad’s return.

According to Globo.com, he arrived at CT Rei Pelé on Monday at around 15:20 and stayed for roughly two hours, adhering to a muscular recovery plan to try to be available for Cuca on Wednesday.

He went straight into a hyperbaric chamber, a pure-oxygen environment under high pressure used to accelerate muscle recovery. It also helps reduce inflammation and swelling after playing a full match as a starter, as he did on Sunday.

He also had massage and physio plus a light gym session, all geared towards a swift, appropriate recovery. Santos published 108 photos from Tuesday’s work, yet Neymar did not appear in any of them.

The expectation is that he will train on the pitch for at least part of Tuesday’s session, when Cuca should outline his likely starting XI to face Palmeiras.
