Neymar trained with Santos on Tuesday but will not be named in the squad to face São Paulo at Vila Belmiro on Wednesday at 20:00 in the Brasileirão.

According to Globo.com, the forward has recovered from surgery on the left knee meniscus and worked with his team-mates, but he is still not ready to play. There is an expectation that he will rejoin the matchday squad on Sunday at 16:00 Brasília time against Noroeste in the penultimate round of the Paulistão.

His last appearance came on 7 December in the 2025 Brasileirão finale against Cruzeiro, when he played through the pain to aid the club’s relegation fight.

Coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda focused on tactics and set pieces in the final session for the second clássico with São Paulo. The Tricolor won 2-0 at Morumbis on Saturday.

A likely Santos XI is Gabriel Brazão, Igor Vinicius, Adonis Frías, Luan Peres, Vinicius Lira, João Schmidt, Gabriel Menino, Zé Rafael, Barreal, Gabigol and Rony.

Tiquinho Soares also trained and is expected to be available in the coming days. Thaciano is in physical transition, while Gustavo Henrique remains with the medical department.

Beyond the rivalry, Santos are chasing a response after losing their league opener. They were beaten 4-2 by Chapecoense in Chapecó, having led 2-1 in the second half, with Gabriel Menino and Barreal scoring at the Arena Condá.
