Referee João Vitor Gobi recorded that Gabriel Menino insulted him and that Alexandre Mattos confronted the officials after Santos lost 2-0 to São Paulo at Morumbis in the sixth round of the Paulistão on Saturday, according to Diario Do Peixe.

Gobi wrote that at half-time Mattos, identified as Santos’s executive football director, came onto the field area to challenge decisions, told the officials they had no criteria, then followed them to the referees’ dressing-room door while continuing to protest.

Menino was later dismissed after two bookings. In his report, Gobi said the midfielder committed a reckless challenge on São Paulo’s number eight, Marcos Antônio Silva Santos, then used abusive language towards the referee and, as he left the pitch, kicked a multiball near his team’s goal.

At the interval, Zé Rafael alleged the referee had disrespected Santos players, claiming Vinicius Lira was sworn at and told to get lost. He called for action, saying this was not the first time the official had behaved that way.

Sabino echoed the criticism and said Brazilian referees ask for respect but do not give it. He claimed Gobi had previously disrespected Alan Franco in a derby with Corinthians and alleged the official again insulted the Santos left-back during this match.

This was Gobi’s second Santos match of the year. He also took charge of their 1-0 loss to Palmeiras at Arena Barueri on 14 January, in the second round of the state competition.
