OGC Nice condemned the officiating after their 1-0 defeat at Paris FC on Sunday, in the 24th round of Ligue 1. The club said in a statement that decisions in recent weeks have gone against them.
They highlighted a penalty not given for a challenge on winger Kaïl Boudache in the 76th minute, viewing it as part of a pattern.
The statement cited a soft handball penalty awarded against Brest, a VAR reversal against Monaco, unpunished contact versus Lyon, a fresh penalty conceded at Lorient, then similar fouls not given and bookings for simulation at Paris FC.
Nice stressed they do not absolve themselves of sporting responsibility and accept results cannot be explained by refereeing alone. In the statement, vice-president delegate Maurice Cohen questioned why similar incidents have been judged so differently and how players can adapt when interpretations fluctuate.
Cohen also raised what he sees as particular treatment of Boudache, suggesting the youngster’s slight frame leads officials to view contact as simulation.
The statement included a table compiled by the amateur, anonymous X account @ArbitreVAR, estimating Nice should have 3.81 more points, sit 13th rather than 14th, and be 9 points clear of the play-off spot instead of 6.
