Ineos, Nice’s owner, is engaged in a potential sale process with an unnamed American investment fund, placing the club in a holding pattern, according to L'Équipe.

Nice have confirmed the exit of sporting director Florian Maurice on Monday, and are expected to pause the appointment of his successor and decisions on the head coach until about mid-June while the process moves forward. The club are assured of playing in Ligue 1 next season.

The transaction could take the form of a full takeover or a gradual entry into the shareholding. Little is expected to be resolved before 15 June.

Geoffrey Moncada remains the leading option to succeed Maurice.

On the bench, it is considered very unlikely that Claude Puel will continue, regardless of any new shareholder. Alexandre Dujeux of Angers is a possibility, while Didier Digard of Le Havre has also been mentioned.
