Former Werder Bremen manager Ole Werner has been talking about Nick Woltemade.
The Newcastle United striker joined Werder Bremen at the age of eight in 2010, coming through the ranks at the German club and leaving 14 years later in 2024, moving on to VFB Stuttgart.
Ole Werner was manager at Werder Bremen from 2021 until this summer (2025), choosing not to sign a new deal with his contract having one season (2025/26) left to run, instead leaving by mutual consent and taking over at RB Leipzig.
As for Nick Woltemade, his move to Stuttgart saw him having a real breakthrough 2024/25 season, allowing him more playing opportunities at first team level, scoring 17 goals and helping Stuttgart win the German Cup, qualify for Europe and finish ninth in the Bundesliga.
Some nice words now from Ole Werner as he talks about the young striker he helped develop in his years at Werder Bremen.
Great to hear this compared to the nonsense coming from bitter people connected to Bayern Munich and German journalists happy not to challenge their agenda of trying to undermine Newcastle United’s signing of Nick Woltemade.
“Nick Woltemade is an outstanding footballer and a down to earth good guy.
“He matured into a senior player at Elversberg.
“A Bundesliga player at Bremen.
