After announcing he will leave Werder Bremen in the summer, Nick Woltemade is set to join VfB Stuttgart on a free transfer in the summer, reports Sky Germany.

The 22-year-old has already signed his contract at Stuttgart. Sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth was pushing to sign Woltemade after he had reportedly attracted interest from Hoffenheim and Borussia Mönchengladbach.

This will be Stuttgart’s third signing of the summer with the club having reportedly also completed but yet to announce the signings of Justin Diehl (1.FC Köln) and Yannik Keitel (SC Freiburg).

Last season, Woltemade spent it on loan at then 3.Liga side Elversberg. In his season at the club, he helped them earn promotion to the Bundesliga by scoring 10 and assisting nine in 31 games. However, in his first proper season in the Bundesliga, Woltemade has played 23 games and has yet to score or assist.

Where Woltemade will fit in at Stuttgart will likely be dependent on the future of their striking duo. It is known that Stuttgart and Undav would like to continue working together beyond this season but a move can only be financed if the club qualifies for the Champions League. The future of Sehrou Guirassy is also up in the air as he has heavily been linked to a move away from the MHP Arena in the past two windows.

It could potentially be viable to predict that Woltemade will replace Guirassy and either play as a backup or partner Undav up front for Stuttgart but the 22-year-old could also play behind the pair.
