The Clarets will be finalising preparations for their trip to The Hawthorns to take on West Brom this coming Sunday, but much talk remains about whether Flemming will remain at Turf Moor after the 1st September deadline.

Flemming highlighted his importance to the Clarets team after being at the heart of their comeback against West Ham on the opening weekend, scoring both the goals as they earned a deserved 2-2 draw to get their first point of the new season on the board.

And while their firm focus will be with what happens on the pitch, Burnley will be wary of the developments off of it, with the departure of Flemming promising to be a huge blow to the Clarets’ promotion push as they target an immediate return to the Premier League.

But Hayen’s update is a positive one for Burnley fans to learn about, with all at the club hopeful that Flemming won’t have his head turned by speculation in the next couple of weeks.

Latest interest in Zian Flemming

Zian Flemming’s future has been a hot topic of conversation throughout this transfer window, particularly given the forward netted 11 times last season in the Premier League, despite being in a relatively poor outfit.

The Dutchman has been vocal on preferring a move back to the Premier League if one was to become available, but it hasn’t materialised just yet despite such heavy interest.

Earlier in the window, Flemming had reported interest from the likes of Brentford, Leeds United, Ipswich Town and Coventry City, with Burnley reportedly willing to listen to offers in the region of around €20m (£17.3m).

But after a period of calm, a fresh Premier League face has now entered the race in the form of Everton, with journalist Ben Jacobs reporting that David Moyes is interested in adding Flemming to his forward line before the window shuts.

Moyes recently admitted that his side have a lot of work left to do during the remainder of the summer transfer window, with the addition of a new forward seemingly a priority, while the Toffees boss was captured watching his display last Sunday from the stands at Turf Moor.

Despite Zian Flemming’s future still causing concern, Burnley boss Nicky Hayen has provided a reassuring update.

The Belgian boss, who was previewing his side’s trip to West Brom, revealed that he has held ‘good conversations’ with Flemming over the forward’s future at the club.

As reported by the Burnley Express, Hayen said: “My feeling will always say that he has to stay.

“He showed the last two games actually how important he is for the group. You saw he scores already two times, but how many chances does he get also in the game? So the way we want to play suits him really, really well.

“But I know how the transfer window goes and when there's a club who is interested and they do an offer, you know there's always a chance that the player can leave.

“This is now the conversation that we have between the management, but also the technical staff, the player and other clubs, what is the best solution.

“Of course, Zian has a certain value for the team, but also financial, so I think everything has to be there for making a transfer.”

When asked if Flemming wanted to stay at Turf Moor or expressed a desire to play in the Premier League, Hayen added: “Who doesn't have the ambition to play in the Premier League? I think everyone does, also Zian.

“But I already had good conversations with him and I already had this conversation before the season and Zian is a player who is here 100 per cent and that's the most important.

“If there will be an offer, then he will consider it because it still is ambition. But I think you saw him last Sunday also, when there's no offer, when there's nothing, Zian will play with his big heart for the club and will score his goals.”

Hayen also confirmed whether there had been any offers made for Flemming, replying: “I don't think so.

“I have to ask the management. If only one is really, really there, then they would inform me, so at the moment, it's not the case.”

Burnley fans will be buoyed by what they’ve heard from Nicky Hayen about Zian Flemming’s future, with his chances of remaining at Turf Moor increasing the longer the window ticks away.

Flemming showcased once again last weekend why he is so important to this Burnley side, with his goals vital to the Clarets being positioned towards the top end of the second tier standings.

And with much of their promotion hopes resting on him sticking around, Burnley have to be resolute in any approaches that come at this stage, with the club not having anywhere near enough time to replace the gaping hole that would be left by a late exit.

Flemming’s departure would have huge ramifications for the Clarets, so it’s vitally important the club holds onto the Dutchman through to January at least, which will give them plenty of time to plan around it.
