Nico Elvedi is flying in to become Leeds United’s fourth signing of the summer, a move paving the way for Sebastiaan Bornauw’s departure.

The Athletic reports that Joel Piroe wants to leave Leeds, and that his representatives believe a £16m valuation is dampening interest.

Daniel Farke said this week that Bornauw was seeking more game-time. He praised the defender’s importance and said he would be happy if he stayed, but would consider a move given the player’s professionalism. He added that discussions would take place over the coming days.

Leeds have agreed a deal with Borussia Monchengladbach for the Swiss international, with the fee understood to be an upfront €8m plus add-ons, rising to €10m if all clauses are met. Elvedi, 29, played every minute of all six of Switzerland’s matches at the World Cup.

Bornauw is set to join Hamburg on an initial loan with a purchase option. Both players travelled this weekend, with the deals expected to be completed imminently.

West Ham are understood to have enquired about Piroe. Leeds are seeking that fee for the 27-year-old forward, a former Championship Golden Boot winner.
