Nico Melamed has apologised after taunting Ousmane Camara during Almería’s celebrations against CD Castellón, an episode that drew condemnation.

Amid the scenes, he confronted the Guinean striker face to face before Diego Barri intervened to move the Almería player away. The player said in a post that the flashpoint came after the assist for the final goal and that he wanted to apologise for his reaction.

He added that the images did not represent him, explaining it stemmed from accumulated tension and from situations across the tie he perceived as disrespect but were not seen, without specifying further.

Melamed acknowledged it was not the best way to respond and said respect must always prevail.

Turning to Almería, he expressed pride in the team and their supporters, saying they fought to the end and felt they deserved it. He concluded that the most enjoyable part is still to come.
