Nico Williams injury update before Athletic Club vs Newcastle | OneFootball

An update on the wellbeing of Athletic Club star Nico Williams has on Tuesday come to the fore online.

This comes amid confirmation that the Spanish international will play no part in the Basque outfit’s upcoming meeting with Newcastle United.

Athletic Club are primed to return to action on Wednesday evening, when they make the trip to St. James’ Park for a Champions League clash.

As confirmed by El Chiringuito TV, however, Nico Williams will not be available for selection.

The talented winger, in the midst of an underwhelming campaign to date, is continuing to struggle with a groin complaint.

After being introduced off the bench en route to Basque Derby defeat at the hands of Real Sociedad over the weekend, Nico has since been condemned to the treatment table once more.

All told, he has now featured from the off in just five of Athletic’s 14 fixtures across all competitions in 2025/26.
