Nico Williams will miss Spain’s final two Nations League fixtures of this international break because of a left thigh problem.

The federation announced on Thursday that the winger felt discomfort after the 4-1 win over Croatia on Tuesday, ruling him out of Saturday’s meeting with Czechia at 20:45 and Croatia again next Tuesday at 20:45.

His condition was monitored during the rest day, the discomfort persisted and he did not train on Thursday. Medical tests by the federation’s doctors led to the decision for him to leave the camp to continue his recovery.

The Athletic player will return to Bilbao for treatment with his club’s medical staff, who have been kept updated throughout.

Williams scored Spain’s fourth goal in the victory over Croatia.
