Spain international Nico Williams will miss several weeks as he begins treatment for pubalgia.

The club said in a statement that he has started a programme with an external specialist to address the issue.

Williams remained on the bench during Sunday’s 2-1 win over Real Oviedo.

The 23-year-old, a Euro 2024 winner with Spain, has been hampered since the start of the season and has 30 caps and 6 goals.

Athletic will monitor his progress, and he will not be called up again until his recovery allows.
