Here’s everything that happened at AFCON last night…

Nigeria 2-1 Tanzania

Nigeria got off to the perfect start to their AFCON campaign as they look to take home the trophy for the first time since 2013.

Semi Ajayi opened the scoring for the Super Eagles before Charles M’Mombwa equalised for Tanzania in the 50th minute.

However, it would only take two minutes for Nigeria to regain the lead as the former African footballer of the year, Ademola Lookman, fired a shot into the top corner to earn his side all three points.

Senegal 3-0 Botswana

Nicolas Jackson was on target twice for Senegal as they eased past Botswana in their opening fixture of AFCON.

The Chelsea striker, on loan at Bayern Munich, put his side 1-0 up just before half-time, before doubling their lead with a tidy finish from inside the box after an hour.

Cherif Ndiaye wrapped up the three points in the 90th minute against a Bostwana side that never have won a match at AFCON.

Tunisia 3-1 Uganda

Tunisia took only ten minutes to take the lead against Uganda, and they never looked back after that.

Ellyes Skhiri’s header was followed by a Elias Achouri double either side of half-time to put Tunisia top of their qualifying group, ahead of Nigeria.

Denis Omedi found the net in injury-time after the 90 minutes were up but it was not enough to get a result.

Congo DR 1-0 Benin

The only goal of the match came after 16 minutes when Arthur Masuaku’s long ball forward found Theo Bongonda, who volleyed home.

Because of problems with the referee’s communication equipment, there were 10 minutes added on at the end of the match but it was still not enough time for Benin to get themselves an equaliser.
