Nicolas Jackson has rejected an allegation from compatriot Paul Keita that he drank alcohol during the 2026 World Cup, responding on Instagram. According to Glorioso 1904, the Bayern Munich forward denied the claim and criticised Keita.

Keita, a former Senegal midfielder who came through Benfica’s academy between 2007 and 2010, had said the striker consumed alcohol at the tournament.

On Instagram stories, Jackson called the reports false and insisted he does not drink alcohol and has never done so. He said he shares supporters’ disappointment, stressed his love for the national shirt and respect for team-mates, and maintained he behaves only as a professional. He added that anger after defeat does not give anyone licence to lie about him.

He then addressed Keita by name, telling him to stop lying and labelling him an idiot. Jackson said few people even know Keita played for Senegal and urged him to focus on his own career instead of claiming the forward drinks alcohol.

The exchange followed Senegal’s 3-2 defeat to Belgium in the last 32 of the 2026 World Cup. Jackson logged 234 minutes at the finals and recorded one assist against Norway.

Keita later left Benfica for Giannina in Greece and went on to play for clubs in Greece, Hungary, Belgium, Türkiye and Spain.
