Speaking in a press conference on Friday, AS Monaco manager Niko Kovac confirmed that the club is seeking to move on Henry Onyekuru, Youssef Aït Bennasser and Samuel Grandsir.
Nigerian attacker Henry Onyekuru, who contracted COVID-19, will return from his native country tomorrow and per Kovac, “wants to leave.”
Onyekuru was purchased in the summer of 2019 for €13.5m from Everton – Galatasaray are currently seeking to sign him on loan for another season.
Kovac explained the continued need to shrink the size of the squad:
“Football is a collective sport where there are 25 or 26 players in a squad. If someone is better, he is better and he plays. For the manager, it is clear. It is very easy to understand.”
24-year-old Moroccan midfielder Youssef Aït-Bennasser and French winger Samuel Grandsir, under contract respectively until 2022 and 2023, are also being invited to exit:
“They know that the club is not counting on them this season. They are free to find a new club. Paul (Mitchell, Sporting Director) will have to see what the possibilities are. Up to their agents too to see what the best solutions are for them.”
