No away fans for Celtic vs Rangers derbies this season | OneFootball

All Celtic vs Rangers derbies will be played without away supporters for the rest of this season, the SPFL said in a statement on Friday.

The move followed fresh talks between both clubs and the league, and is intended to help implement investigation recommendations and better prepare future fixtures.

Serious disorder marred the Scottish Cup quarter-final at Ibrox on 8 March, which Celtic won 4-2 on penalties after a 0-0 draw. Dozens of arrests followed clashes on the pitch after supporters invaded the playing area to confront Celtic fans celebrating.

Both clubs were punished with one Scottish Cup home tie behind closed doors. An independent inquiry found that near stampedes and life-threatening violence were narrowly avoided.

Rangers had proposed cutting Celtic’s allocation to 300 tickets for a League Cup tie scheduled for 13 September, but after Celtic objected the clubs instead settled on a uniform approach across Cup and Premiership fixtures through to season end.

The sides are due to meet next on 20 September at Celtic Park in the Premiership.

All parties have committed to work constructively during this period, with safety the priority. The position could be reviewed if circumstances change materially this season, and arrangements beyond this campaign will be settled well before 2027-2028.
