‘No chance’ – Roy Keane shuts down Jamie Carragher prediction for Bournemouth v Liverpool | OneFootball

Roy Keane immediately disagreed with Jamie Carragher’s prediction for Liverpool’s visit to Bournemouth on Sunday.

Andoni Iraola goes back to the Vitality Stadium for the first time since guiding the Cherries to a sixth-place finish last season, just one position behind the club of whom he’s now in charge.

The Basque oversaw a 3-2 win for the south coast outfit when these teams last met eight months ago, and he’ll hope for a similiar result the other way around at the weekend as the Reds aim for just their second Premier League win of the campaign.

Keane stunned by Carragher’s prediction for Sunday

On the latest episode of Stick to Football, the resident pundits offered their predictions for Liverpool’s clash against Bournemouth.

Jill Scott forecast a 1-1 draw, which Keane described as a ‘good shout’, while Carragher opted for a 3-1 away victory for the Reds.

That prompted an instant rebuke from the ex-Manchester United captain, who interjected: “No chance! No chance. Just because you got a YTS there! No chance of 3-1.”

A win by any means would do just fine for Liverpool

Liverpool remain unbeaten in their first six matches under Iraola, but three draws from their opening four Premier League games has made for an underwhelming start to the season.

The Reds have tightened up defensively of late, with just two goals conceded in their last four outings after shipping four in the preceding two games, although the limp 0-0 draw at home to Fulham last weekend highlighted the problems they face against well-organised defences.

Bournemouth have led in each of their first four league matches under Marco Rose but failed to win any of them, with the concession of late goals costing them dearly in recent weeks.

That could offer encouragement to Liverpool, who showed their powers of recovery in coming from behind to beat Atletico Madrid last week and also bounced back from losing positions to claim a point each against Newcastle and Nottingham Forest.

Obviously the Reds won’t want to be left having to do things the hard way on Sunday, but if the defensive improvement continues and the forwards perform to the levels of which they’re capable, Iraola’s side have the quality to emerge victorious at the Vitality Stadium.

A commanding performance would be ideal, but when it comes to tough assignments such as this one, a narrow victory would be absolutely fine with us.
