No loss in 17 years – Barcelona’s outstanding away record vs Real Betis ahead of La Liga showdown | OneFootball

Later today, Barcelona take on Real Betis away from home on Matchday 15 of La Liga in a game that they will look to win and continue their good run of momentum.

After all, Hansi Flick’s side just defeated Atletico Madrid midweek, and in the process racked up their first big game win of the season.

The clash on Saturday will be held at the Estadi de La Cartuja, which is currently serving as a temporary home for Real Betis as the Benito Villamarin undergoes renovation.

An amazing away record

Heading into the game, Flick’s side enjoy a stunning record over Real Betis playing away from home in La Liga. After all, their last defeat on the road to Los Verdiblancos came in the 2007-08 season.

It was in March 2008 that Real Betis last managed to beat Barcelona in Seville when they came back from 2-0 down to win by a 3-2 margin. Notably, Bojan Krkic and Samuel Eto’o were the goal scorers on the night – an indication of how long ago it was.

Since then, the two teams have faced off in Real Betis’ home venue on 14 occasions, and they have resulted in ten Barcelona wins, four draws, and no wins for the hosts. 

There was one occasion when Real Betis did beat Barcelona, which came back in the 2010-11 season, when the hosts took a 3-1 win in the second leg of the Copa del Rey quarterfinal. Notably, however, it did not affect the Catalans, who won the first leg 5-0.

Overall, however, Real Betis have beaten Barcelona on two other occasions in the meantime, both at the Spotify Camp Nou.

The first was a 4-3 win over Ernesto Valverde’s side, which notably became the game that brought Quique Setien to Barcelona’s attention.

The second was in Xavi Hernandez’s tenure as manager when Real Betis won by a 1-0 margin with a late Juanmi goal.
