It has not been the tournament Kylian MbappĂ© would have hoped for on a personal level so far, much of which has had to do with the broken nose he sustained in France’s opener against Austria and mask he has been forced to subsequently don since.

However, tonight against Spain in the semi-final, he has dropped it, and it has already seemingly made a difference for both him and France.

The French skipper’s game has clearly been impeded, with him looking uncomfortable for much of the last four games and even being subbed off before the penalty shootout against Portugal in the quarter-finals.

It took him just eight minutes tonight for him to look back to his best tonight, curling a brilliant cross into the box for Randal Kolo Muani to head home and put their side in the league.

It was also Didier Deschamps’ side’s first goal from open play rather amazingly, with their first three strikes being a penalty and two own goals.

They have since fallen behind in a stunning first half, but could the maskless Mbappé still make all the difference?
