Noah Okafor missed Switzerland’s 4-1 win over Jordan on Sunday, the Leeds United winger sidelined as a calf issue lingers. He has not featured for his country for more than 18 months.

The Swiss federation said in a statement that Okafor remains troubled by a calf problem, although coach Murat Yakin is not concerned about his long-term availability.

Okafor sustained the injury after Leeds’ 3-1 win over Burnley, then missed the final three Premier League matches. He had initially been ruled out for two games but was also not fit to face West Ham on the final day.

Switzerland play Australia in San Diego on Saturday, Okafor’s only chance for minutes before their World Cup opener against Qatar on June 13. He is expected to be back fit soon.

The forward received his first Switzerland call-up since November 2024 in March, arriving as a late injury replacement after meeting senior officials to settle a rift with Yakin. His late-season club form had been strong, with six goals in seven league outings before the setback.

Okafor has 24 caps and two goals. He made three substitute appearances at the 2022 World Cup, then remained unused throughout Euro 2024, after which he has earned only two further caps.
