Nordi Mukiele was forced off with a calf injury 13 minutes into Sunderland’s Premier League game against Fulham on Sunday.

The France international left the pitch in tears during the matchweek 27 fixture. Sunderland were beaten 1-3.

It was a blow for the 28-year-old, who is in contention for the World Cup next summer.

Mukiele has been a mainstay for the Black Cats under Régis Le Bris, making 25 league appearances and scoring one goal.

He had been delivering a consistent campaign before this setback.
