Alex Tettey had a surprise reunion with former Norwich City teammate Russell Martin
Alex Tettey was a real unsung hero at Norwich City through three Championship promotion campaigns, and through their time in the Premier League, too.
The former Norwegian international spent nine years on the books at the Carrow Road-based club, joining Norwich with them in the Premier League under Chris Hughton from Ligue 1 side Rennes.
But, even with that top-flight experience under his belt, their relegation back to the Championship in 2014 didn't see him looking to move on.
Instead, he played a major role in getting the Canaries back to the top flight the year after, and that would be the story of his time at Carrow Road. He may have three Premier League relegations on his CV, but his willingness to man the engine room during their returns is what made him such a likeable character in Norfolk.
He wasn't the only fan favourite during the ups and downs that the 2010s brought to Norwich, though. Even with Tettey's popularity, Russell Martin is held in even higher regard at Carrow Road, and Canaries fans were delighted to see the two surprisingly reunite this week.

Russell Martin's time at Norwich began a few years before Tettey's, and thus ended a little earlier, too. However, the two still spent plenty of years in the Carrow Road changing rooms together.
The 40-year-old former right-back was part of the back-to-back promotion-winning Canaries sides from League One into the Premier League between 2009 and 2011. Tettey would arrive in 2012, and the pairing were mainstays in the squad for the following five years.
Therefore, when Tettey impromptu bumped into Martin earlier this week, the former midfielder had to let Norwich fans know online.
Taking to his Instagram, he posted an image of the two together, with the caption: "When u randomly meet ur ex team mate Russell Martin at the market😅😊, Norwich’s Cafu."
The comparison to the legendary Brazilian full-back isn't alien to Canaries fans, who attributed that nickname to him while playing, outlining how brilliant he was while playing at Carrow Road.
Seeing the two together, even momentarily, brings back plenty of fond memories for Norwich fans who follow the former midfielder on social media, as they reminisce on their last truly competitive Premier League year in 2012/13 and the play-off winning campaign in the Championship two years later.

The happy nostalgia invoked by seeing Tettey and Martin together only serves to stoke what is currently a positive atmosphere and one full of hope at Carrow Road ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Norwich may be gearing up for their fifth straight season in the Championship, but with Philippe Clement in the dugout for the full year, Canaries fans are excited to see what their side can do after being one of the best teams in the division throughout 2026.
Only Southampton picked up more points than Clement's Canaries in the second half of the season, and if not for the disastrous start under Liam Manning, in which they were second-bottom when the Belgian boss took over in mid-November, they'd have easily finished in the top six.
Now, with the tallies reset, Norwich will be hopeful that the personnel who shone in the latter half of the campaign can do so once more across the full term, leading to what they hope will be yet another promotion party.
Both Martin and Tettey know what it feels like to secure promotion to the Premier League at Carrow Road, and the current crop of Canaries will be hoping to follow in their footsteps in the 2026/27 campaign.
