Norwich City are eyeing a move for Bologna winger Benjamin Dominguez this summer following a long-term injury to Ali Ahmed
Norwich City have suffered the devastating news of a long-term injury to Canadian winger Ali Ahmed, as the Canaries have acted swiftly to target his replacement.
According to the latest printed edition of Corriere di Bologna, Norwich have made contact with Italian top-flight outfit Bologna over a potential move for Argentine winger Benjamin Dominguez, with the likes of Boca Juniors and Vasco da Gama interested.
Dominguez, 22, has reportedly been eyed as an alternative to Ahmed, who recently suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury, ruling him out for the foreseeable future, in a huge blow for the Canaries.

Ahmed only joined Norwich in January 2026 for around £1.4 million from MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps, and upon his first move abroad, impressed whenever he took to the field in Norfolk.
The Canadian scored four and assisted three in 21 Championship games under Clement, proving to be a highly effective option out on the left flank, where he can cut in on his preferred right foot.
His injury will come as a huge blow for Norwich, and something they likely hadn't prepared for, but on the bright side for them, the transfer window still has around three weeks until it slams shut, as Dominguez has become the subject of interest from the East Anglian outfit.
Dominguez joined Bologna from Argentine side Gimnasia for around €4 million (£3.4 million), and has gone on to make 48 appearances across all competitions since, scoring four and assisting six from the left flank.

Dominguez struggled for game time last season for Bologna, making just 15 Serie A appearances for the club, with only six of those coming as starts, registering three assists without scoring.
He more often than not found himself warming the bench, with former Norwich winger and academy graduate Jonathan Rowe more often than not preferred ahead of him by Vincenzo Italiano.
The Argentine's sample size is small, but there is every reason to believe that he could be a hit in Norfolk.
The last winger from Argentina they had, namely a certain Emiliano Buendia, didn't go too badly, and whilst it would take something special to come remotely close to matching the current Aston Villa attacker's footsteps, Dominguez's addition will certainly remind Canaries fans of him.
Buendia, too, arrived with few expectations after a relatively quiet spell in Spain, and if Dominguez can lead a similar path, Norwich could pull off a real coup with his capture.

With Ahmed's unfortunate injury, this essentially leaves Norwich one winger down than they had expected to enter the season with, as an alternative in the form of Dominguez has been identified.
Whilst Norwich has not made any formal offer as yet, with no quoted asking price being reported either, the Canaries will be confident of getting a replacement for the Canadian over the line, as the Bologna winger could be that person.
Certainly, this is one to keep an eye on, as Norwich's hunt for an Ahmed replacement begins, with Dominguez touted as a potential option.
