Pressure is mounting on the Whites’ boss as their difficult start to the Premier League season continues, now standing at five defeats in their last six games.

Leeds fans have begun to call for Farke’s sacking, while there is still time to turn things around in the top tier.

However, Norwich followers know all too well about the pitfalls that route can present.

Leeds United fans have had enough of Daniel Farke

According to a poll run by Leeds United News, following their recent run of form, over 70 percent of respondents admitted they wanted to see Farke depart.

Despite that, the German is not feeling any undue pressure.

He told Sky Sports after the club’s most recent defeat: “Believe me, in terms of pressure, the first day you walk into the door for Leeds United as manager, you have pressure.

“Every day, in the Championship, after each and every draw, everyone was questioned. This is not a topic for me.

“When we want to work at this level, you have to deal with pressure. If you can’t handle the heat, then don’t go into the kitchen, but this doesn’t influence our work one percent.”

Recent results elsewhere have seen the Yorkshire outfit slip into the relegation zone, with just 11 points taken from 12 games, although they are only four points behind the likes of Newcastle United, currently occupying 14th place.

That, however, may be exactly why Leeds fans feel a change is right now, while teams above are still within reach, but Norwich serves as a cautionary tale.

Norwich City have been in this exact position before

Farke took over at Norwich in 2017, leading the Canaries to the Championship title in his second campaign in charge.

They were relegated instantly, but rebounded the season after for a second go at Premier League football.

It was in that second season, at around this point in the calendar, that Farke was relieved of his duties, having accrued just five points from 11 games.

So resolute were Norwich that they had time to turn their season around with a fresh approach, they sacked the German coach on the eve of the side’s first Premier League win of the campaign, a 2-1 victory over Brentford.

Norwich City should serve as a warning to Leeds United

Spoiler alert: they did not turn their season around.

Norwich appointed Dean Smith following Farke’s removal, who picked up just four more wins, as the Canaries finished dead last, with Smith being sacked part-way through the following season in the Championship.

Farke had been in place for over four years when he was sacked, around four years ago, and in Philippe Clement, the Canaries are now on their fifth permanent manager in that time.

The Norwich hierarchy may have become tired with the yo-yoing between leagues under Farke, but the club have never been as successful since, under any subsequent manager.

And now, after a dismal Liam Manning spell, the Canaries are looking down with trepidation at League One, rather than up at the Premier League with promise.

The club’s best post-Farke spell, under David Wagner, was punctured in the play-offs in 2024 by none other than Farke’s Leeds.
